Adding Private books

The Private books folder contains books for an individual member - none of your other Club members can see your Private books.

Use the Private folder to keep a note of books you've read, or would like to read in the future.

You can make notes and review your Private books any time.

To add a book to your Private foler, follow these steps.

  1. Login to the OOB, and go to the Books page (see above).
  2. Click on the Add Book button in the Private panel (again, see above).

This will display the Add book window in the Private panel :

Search for your book

Let's say you wanted to add Out of Bounds, by Val McDermid .

Just enter those details into the Title and Author fields, then click the Search button.

The OOB will return all the books it can find that meet the details you entered along with how good the match was. In this case it just found one, with a 100% match.

Not listed?

Note that if the OOB can't find your book in its database, you can still create it by clicking the Not listed? Create your book button. This will create the book for you and send a message to our editors to find the book and update the database.

Pick your book

Click on the more link to show details of the book...

If it's the right book, click the Add button to add it to the Club, or Cancel to start over.

If you click Add, the screen will clear and you will see the book listed in your Club folder.

Good job! The book is now available to you to view the book details, review and rate it, and add the date when you read it.

You can also make changes to the book through the Advanced Editor.
